| About The School |
|
Keilor Downs College (pop. 1400+) is a large stand alone 7 - 12 college on the outskirts of the metropolitan region. The area has seen massive housing development since the inception of the college twenty years ago. The student population (and the teaching body also) reflect the many different national backgrounds of the surrounding community. The college is divided into the Middle School (Years 7-9) and Senior School (Years 10-12) for Welfare and Management and curriculum purposes. Year 10 is treated as an introductory year for VCE, with the timetable aligned with Years 11 and 12 and with many of the processes and terminology of VCE introduced at this year. Year 10 students are encouraged to take VCE units in this year, and there is also a special program run for students who are at risk because of lack of confidence and self-esteem.
