Principal’s Welcome
We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our college stands—land that was never ceded. The Maribyrnong River (Mirring-gnay-bir-nong in Woiwurrung language), with its rich history of connection, learning, storytelling, and culture, reminds us of the enduring traditions that continue to shape our community’s values and relationships today.
Choosing a secondary school is a significant decision—I understand that deeply. I’ve proudly been part of the dedicated KDC team since 2009, but my connection runs deeper. My mum taught here from 1985 to 2022, and my dad was also a local teacher at Taylors Lakes Secondary College. Now, as a parent with my eldest daughter starting secondary school in 2025, I appreciate more than ever the importance of finding the right fit for your child’s next chapter.
If you’re exploring secondary school options, a website is a great starting point—but there’s no substitute for stepping inside a college during a regular school day. I invite you to join a transition tour, experience our classrooms in action, and, most importantly, hear from our students. That’s where you’ll see and feel the true nature of KDC coming to life.
When considering what your child needs, it’s natural to think through practicalities—academic programs, extracurriculars, and support structures. But just as important is how a school feels. At KDC, we are especially proud of our strong sense of community, where partnerships between families, staff, and students play a vital role in our collective success. Our vertical House structure is pivotal to this by fostering meaningful relationships, creating a supportive and connected environment where every student is known and valued.
Our curriculum is carefully planned to meet the needs of our diverse student body. As a result, we achieve excellent learning outcomes, from strong NAPLAN results to high performance at VCE and robust vocational pathways. We also offer a wide range of special programs, including our gifted education program, Disability Inclusion Program, International Student Program, Language Support Program, and a diverse selection of electives, ensuring every student has the greatest opportunity to achieve their full potential.
Beyond the classroom, our extensive extracurricular program allows students to explore their strengths and talents in music, sports, debating, chess, arts and our Soccer School Program. I am constantly inspired by the talents and accomplishments of our students in so many areas of interest.
