Being Cybersafe
Keilor Downs College uses the Internet and digital technologies as teaching and learning tools. We see the internet and digital technologies as valuable resources, but acknowledge they must be used responsibly.
We are an accredited eSmart school and promote school-wide positive behaviours which include expectations based on three rules applicable to the safe and responsible use of digital technologies:
- Fair Learning – working to your full potential and allowing others to work to theirs
- Fair Treatment – understanding the rights of all
- Safe and Secure – use of sensible behaviour inside and outside the classroom
Keilor Downs College holds an annual eSmart Week in Term 3 providing students the opportunity to actively practice and test their knowledge and skills in all things cybersafe.
Students and families also play a part in maintaining a safe online environment. Parenting in an increasingly complex digital world means the more ways we support children to navigate the online environment, the more equipped young people will be.
The Office of the eSafety Commissioner provides real support on eSafety issues and information on online applications which may be interest for KDC parents, students and families.
